A dear friend commissioned this painting of the cabin her father built a long time ago, but because I wanted to do my very best work perfectionism kept paralyzing me, and I would get stuck and put it away and then bring it out again after a long time. I had to finally loosen up and set myself a deadline, and work through my fears and be willing to make mistakes and stick with it until I figured out how to fix the mistakes. It’s still not perfect but I’m not perfect either. The painting and I both progressed through the process of creation and found joy in the journey.
I finally showed her the painting and she cried. Truly the greatest feeling is to be able to create something meaningful that touches someone else’s heart.
