This piece was inspired by driving through the Flint Hills in Kansas in the Spring. Many fields are burned to encourage regrowth of the prairie grasses. I enjoy seeing the rich dark browns of the burned fields alongside the dry yellow unburned fields and stone. This artwork is about capturing the colors during this season. I also used handmade paper in this piece to represent the stone that peeks through the landscape in the Flint Hills.
