Heather Blume graduated with an MFA cum laude in Sculpture from the New York Academy of Art in 1994 and has been a practicing professional ever since. Blume enjoys a rich and varied career. Her figurative works are exhibited and collected nationally and internationally.Heather lives, works, and is inspired by the people and places she encounters in her travels as well as the land and seascape of the place she lives and works, Cape Cod.
Statement
The human figure has always inspired me and continues to be my primary source for expression. I work to create visual interpretations of the human physiological and psychological experience.
Often, I begin working with a heightened sense of emotive intensity whether sculpting, drawing, painting or using mixed mediums. I use vibrant colors, bold lines, and a combination of gestural and deliberate forms.
All humanity shares the language of art, and so, when a viewer is moved to respond in any way to my artwork, I am satisfied the process is complete.
