A jewel of regal stature and symbolism, this bazuband reflects the deep cultural significance of arm ornaments in Indian royal tradition. On the front, a regal grid of rectangular and pear shaped gemstones draws the eye: deep pink rubies are laid out in a rhythmic, symmetrical pattern, flanked by the soft glint of uncut diamonds, all set against a vibrant green enamel ground. These stones, arranged with the precision of a courtly miniature painting, are nestled in delicate kundan settings, their reflective foil backing enhancing their inner fire. The green enamel between the stones adds a botanical elegance. Flip the ornament, and a hidden world of colour and detail reveals itself. The reverse is entirely enameled in deep navy blue, blooming with red floral motifs edged in yellow and framed by curling green vines. Even the side terminals echo this dual artistry, with petals and buds shaped into their golden frames. . A comparable example is illustrated in Oppi Untracht’s Traditional Jewelry of India (p. 310)
