- Signature: Artist Statement Each day, we hear stories of people fleeing danger and searching for safety in places unknown. “Breaking Free” began as my emotional response to these stories, an attempt to imagine the disorientation, courage, and fragility of that experience. The fragmented space and shifting perspectives reflect the instability of those forced to leave everything behind. In abstraction, I found a way to speak to what words cannot, the human instinct to endure, to reach beyond confinement, and to believe that freedom exists beyond the leap.

In “Breaking Free,” fragmented forms drift through abstracted space, caught between confinement and liberation. The work draws inspiration from the struggles of those fleeing danger and seeking safety in unfamiliar lands. Layers of cool blues and muted greens mirror isolation and distance, while hints of light suggest resilience.
