Contemporary British artist, Slade School of Art, UK graduate and Arts Council supported painter, concerning the natural sublime and the transcendental realms
MessageCerulean blue distemper seals the bleached ivory linen surface. The ghostlike mountain is painted with a traditional glaze recipe that allows it to shimmers and float on the edge of vision. As one moves around this painting it becomes more and less visible as it catches the light. A small arch at the base of the mountain suggests this is also a castle. The distemper ground and subtle vignette gives substance and significance to supreme 'nothingness'. It's lack of grounding dissolves the boundary frequently drawn between 'the natural world' on Earth and the 'natural' sphere of the cosmos.
