MessageGregory is a watercolor artist from Lewiston, Maine, who began painting over a year ago. He is self-taught and started by watching a Get Set Up beginner's watercolor course, after which he continued exploring the art world. Using various YouTube tutorials, Gregory has practiced different techniques and styles to develop his approach to painting.
He focuses on everyday subjects using a range of colors and brushwork. His paintings often include landscapes and abstract themes. Gregory intends to sell his prints online and at local craft fairs. Each painting presents a narrative, and he plans to connect with viewers through his work while continuing to participate in the art community and advance his skills.
Statement
I paint with watercolor on 12x9-inch paper, letting colors and strokes blend naturally as I work. After the first layer dries, I add more color, using scraping and tilting for texture. I regularly step back, rotate the painting to view progress, and choose the most promising orientation before adding final details. My approach to detail uses quick, confident brushstrokes, scraping, and occasional water for unique textures, rather than precise realism.
