Fruit harvesting in Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden, near Mekong River. I created this piece for the "China Minorities-American Perceptions" show. China, on the opposite side of the globe from us, its language, both spoken and written is about as different as you can get. It's a challenge to move past our preconceived ideas of people with such different ways. And yet, when we stand close and look into the eyes of a child we see that we all have dreams; dreams for a happy life with peace, prosperity and special people to love.
I don't think I knew what a pomelo was before visiting this garden. They are a very large, luscious citrus fruit. And this little bicycle cart carries them to the fruit stand very well.
