In Spring, An Old Snapping Turtle by George Roberts Image: A One-Poem Book, the first of a planned series celebrating the longer poem.

I wrote this poem after encountering a crushed turtle on the Olson Highway overpass while on a bike ride. After pausing to give notice, I peddled on but could not get the old turtle, its glistening shell split in half by the impossible and suddenness weight of a passing vehicle, out of my mind.
