Chicago, IL
Genevieve Ramos is a Chicago-based painter creating colorful, inclusive contemporary art that celebrates identity, self-expression, and resilience.
MessageGenevieve Ramos (b.1990) is a Mexican-American painter, disability advocate, and queer artist based in Chicago. Working primarily in acrylic on canvas, Ramos creates vibrant, symbolic paintings that explore feminism, disability justice, and identity through color, texture, and form.
Her work often blends realism with abstraction, drawing on personal experience to examine the body as both a site of vulnerability and resilience. Themes of healing, connection, and transformation run through her practice, informed by her lived experience as a disabled artist and her early discovery of painting through art therapy.
Ramos’s paintings have been exhibited nationally in galleries and museums, including the Design Museum of Chicago and the International Museum of Surgical Science. She is a 3Arts/Bodies of Work Fellow, co-founder of the cross-disability collective Cuerpos Justificados (Justified Bodies), and recipient of the GoodHart Artist Residency “Elevating Diverse Voices” Award.
Through her art and advocacy, Ramos seeks to expand the visibility of inclusive contemporary art, celebrating the richness of disabled and queer experiences.
