Ageing Gracefully is a collaboration by Gayle & John Reichelt based on a theme of explaining the life cycle of stars and the nature of other wonders in our skies by combining images. Ageing Gracefully combines a star photo by John with a charcoal drawing by Gayle. The combined image conveys the reality that stars are not eternal; stars are born, they age and they die. Star age in two ways. Large stars explode as supernovas. Smaller stars like our sun age gracefully by puffing off their outer layers in a process which spreads the fruits of the stars internal chemistry to benefit the formation of a new generation of stars in space.
