Inspired by a promise I made to my life long friend, Jan. During our last earthly visit Jan gave me one of her vases. She made me promise to keep flowers in it for myself. This was a sneaky attempt at teaching me self care. I found this task difficult and finally succumbed to some lovely imitations to keep the vase full in between bouts of glorious fresh flowers. Early 2021 I got serious about my art practice and was inspired to start this series as a means of keeping the vase full. I have completed two acrylic paintings and several multimedia works so far to fulfill " the promise of flowers". Your memory lives on my friend and my world is full of beautiful flowers as a result.....and I am getting better at putting myself first as well!
