RAINBOWS & CLOUDS
This large collection wishes to capture the different colour and shape formations of clouds and rainbows utilizing a mixed technique of adding and scraping oil paint both on canvas and on wooden boards. With daily observation, sketching, and photography of the clouds in my local area, Australia and the imaginative recollection of my memories, I like to create dreamy-like artwork, wanting to engage and inspire the audience in many different layers.

PAPER RINGS
Paper Rings is a photographic collection utilising paper and supportive materials, such as paper and perspex. Gaia's collection is playful and colourful on one side and more minimalistic in her B&W photographs. Combining geometries and colours the light plays games of shadows and reflections. Clean lines are sometimes in contraposition with the abstract and blurred views, allowing for freedom of interpretation in the mysterious visual effects.
ORCHIDS/BANKSIA CERAMIC COLLECTION
My favorite flowers, orchids, and the Burnt Banksia are hand-made using Raku clay and painted using free-flow brushstrokes technique. Every plate is different from the others. Whether placed as a display or for everyday use to create a visually appealing cheese platter, those plates are food safe.

LE MAREE
Le Maree is a series of abstract paintings exploring the cyclical rhythm of the tides and the quiet transformation of the coastline. Built through successive layers of acrylic, oil and mineral pigments, each work reflects the continuous dialogue between water, sand, and stone, where movement gradually becomes memory.
Rather than depicting the landscape, the paintings distil its essence through gesture, texture, and subtle tonal variation. The marks echo erosion, sediment, and the traces left by receding water, creating compositions that exist between abstraction and landscape.
Created for Sabbia Residence, Le Maree invites contemplation of nature's slower rhythms and the enduring relationship between architecture, place, and time.
LUCE RIFLESSA
Luce Riflessa is a series of monochromatic paintings investigating the ephemeral nature of reflected light upon water. Working almost exclusively in black and white, the series removes colour to focus on gesture, contrast and atmosphere, allowing light itself to become the subject.
Each composition captures a fleeting moment where reflection dissolves into abstraction, transforming the changing surface of water into expressive marks that suggest movement rather than representation.
Together, the works explore absence as much as presence, revealing how light has the ability to define space, alter perception and quietly shape our emotional experience of an interior.
CASA/HOUSE
CASA / HOUSE is an ongoing multidisciplinary body of work that was presented across two solo exhibitions: CASA / HOUSE: Interior of Abstract Memories at The Art Space on The Concourse, Chatswood, and CASA / HOUSE at Gang Gang Gallery, Lithgow. The collection brings together abstract paintings, limited edition ceramics, poetry, and installation to explore the idea of home as both a physical place and an emotional landscape.
ACQUA & SASSI
Acqua & Sassi is a forthcoming limited edition collection of handcrafted ceramic objects for everyday living. Produced in small numbers, it comprises water jugs, cups, bowls, plates, serving dishes, and sculptural vases that celebrate the quiet rituals of gathering and sharing.
Hand-built using slab construction, each piece sits between architecture, sculpture, and function. Finished with luminous aqua glazes inspired by the meeting of water and stone, the forms balance clean geometry with the subtle traces of the maker's hand.
The collection is currently in production and will be available soon. In the meantime, enquiries are welcomed for commissions, bespoke pieces, and early access to the first release.
AVAILABLE WORK
Available Works brings together a curated selection of original paintings from across Gaia Starace's multidisciplinary practice. Inspired by the Australian landscape and informed by her background in architecture and fine art, the works explore memory, materiality, and place through abstraction.
This Private Room presents a selection of paintings previously exhibited at Herk Alexander Gallery.
Each work draws upon the colours, textures, and rhythms of the natural landscape, translated through layered gestures, subtle tonal shifts, and expressive mark-making. While each painting stands independently, together they reflect an ongoing dialogue between landscape, architecture, and cultural memory.
Together, these works are conceived not simply as artworks, but as enduring elements of interior space, inviting quiet contemplation within residential, commercial, and hospitality environments.
SMALL WORKS
This collection brings together a selection of smaller original paintings created throughout Gaia Starace's multidisciplinary practice. Spanning exhibitions, research, and independent bodies of work, each painting explores memory, materiality, and place through layered abstraction inspired by the Australian landscape and an ongoing dialogue with Italian architecture, landscapes, and cultural heritage.
