An assemblage of memories and dark secrets, this work is from a childhood memory of exploring my grandmother's jewelry box. While the contents were only costume jewelry and mementos, in the eyes of a 5-year-old girl they were treasures. Photos of relatives I didn't know were part of her treasures, and I remember asking about them, trying to connect the dots in my little child head. As an adult looking back, I know there were secrets and treasures she couldn't share or explain. Every family has its secrets.
