Flora Doehler's artistic journey took her from the urban landscapes of Toronto to the serene beauty of rural Nova Scotia. Her artistic exploration began with a formal education in fine arts and craft at the Art Centre at Central Technical School in Toronto, followed by studying painting and drawing at the Kunsthochschule Weissensee in Berlin, Germany where she honed her craft and exploring different cultural influences.
Years of participation in art shows and studio tours in Ontario followed showcasing her evolving artistic vision and technique. However, in 2007 she made a significant shift in her life, relocating to the artist village of Bear River, Nova Scotia. This move marked a pivotal moment in her artistic journey, as she immersed herself in the natural beauty of her surroundings and became deeply connected to the local artistic community.
As a juried member of the Nova Scotia Designer Crafts Council (NSDCC) and a participant in Visual Arts Nova Scotia and the Annapolis Regional Community Arts Council, Flora has established herself as a respected figure within the regional art scene. She played a foundational role in the establishment of the Bear River Artworks Gallery and is an integral part of the Bear River Working Studios group, contributing to the vibrant artistic ecosystem of her community.
