María Fernanda Lavera is a cotemporary artist, from Buenos Aires, Argentina.
MessageInspired by an ancient Egyptian funerary text, dating from 1540 BC to 60 BC—The Book of the Dead, originally titled The Book of the Daybreak, before being transliterated.
It was written in hieroglyphs on papyrus scrolls, depicting the soul’s journey through the afterlife, facing the judgment of Osiris, crossing the Underworld in search of light.
In this piece, we see the hieroglyphs that mark the rising of the day.
Yellows and golden pigments sing like birds across the canvas.
