Fernanda Lavera
Luna Nueva by Fernanda Lavera Image: In this series composed of Luna Nueva, Sol Creciente, It’s ok, Dark, y Los Indios, we can see how the artist's work throughout 2012 used oils to highlight a particular hardness in each image.

The artist's inspiration stems from her French and Mapuche ancestry, a group of indigenous peoples in South American. A Mapuche great-grandfather who fell in love with a European woman emerges as an atavistic and enigmatic presence, which we see reflected in many of her paintings using images that are both dark and striking.
