This series composed of Luna Nueva, Sol Creciente, It’s ok, Dark, and Los Indios captures a moment during 2012 in which I focused my work on the use of oil paint to highlight a particular hardness in each of the images.
The inspiration comes from my French and Mapuche ancestry, an Indigenous people from South America. A Mapuche great-grandfather who once won the heart of a European woman emerges as an atavistic and enigmatic presence, reflected in many of my paintings through dark and intense imagery.
