María Fernanda Lavera is a cotemporary artist, from Buenos Aires, Argentina.
MessageA game that travels back to 15th-century medieval Italy,
later reimagined by the French Clemente Jacques in 1887,
the Mexican Lottery carries with it the vibrant pulse of Mexican society and its characters.
Once a popular pastime, now faded from the mainstream,
it endures as a legendary tradition etched into the collective memory.
On my canvas, yellows, blues, and reds cascade like playing cards,
bursting into abstract forms that echo the spirit of the game,
a game that persists through time,
both a reflection and a celebration of the culture.
Mexican Lottery.
