Farah Aria is an artist, illustrator and author specializing multicultural and whimsical words and images for children. She celebrates multicultural diversity in her rich colorful paintings of children from many cultures. Farah also loves to use fun pastel colors and play with texture in gouache and acrylic paints to create a happy palette for kids.
I’m a proud graduate of Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, with a BA in Illustration 1997 and also I studied four years of Early Childhood Development at Cal State LA. I spent 15 years teaching preschool, ran a private children’s art studio for 3 years, and I’ve been a freelance illustrator for 20+.years for the children’s market. I prefers using a combination of traditional art, using gouache, acrylic and additional mediums like pencil, sumi ink and pastels, and digital illustration created in Procreate and finished in Adobe Photoshop. My editorial illustrations have been published in many magazines for women and children, and I have illustrated five educational picture books and was author/illustrator on two additional educational picture books. My art has also been commissioned for posters, packaging, greeting cards, apparel, advertising, events and animations.
