Original art; abstract expression inspired landscape and culture of SWFL
MessageBorn in Pittsburgh, PA I began creating art at a young age. Most of my early works were in clay or fibers and often sculptural. However, depending on available media techniques, I would find a way to create with what was at hand. After receiving a BFA in from Carnegie Mellon University, I initially worked as a graphic artist and other career paths including Interior design. I earned a master in art Education from Carlow University, which lead to a rewarding career experience as a senior high school art teacher for twenty fours years. Finally, I am back to working with my first love, color and texture and shapes, in acrylics and mixed media techniques. Now residing in southwest Florida, my work is inspired by my surroundings and emotional impact of a subtle moment magnified by light, color and textures utilizing simplified shapes that create the situations or landscapes. My work takes twists & turns but ultimately, the clusters or fragments that I see remain in my visual memory. I describe my as surreal contemporary abstracts. I am currently a member of SWFL artists association, Arts Bonita, & Coco Art Gallery, Estero Fl.
Statement
My work is an expression of my surroundings that are ignited with emotional expression by means of layered color and textures. Subtle moments are magnified by light, color and shapes that recreated the landscape or the figure and its moment in time.
