Wine Press Diagram comes from my Contemporary Cartographies series and is rooted in research at the archaeological site of a Hellenistic wine factory in Burgaz (Palaia Knidos). The layered surface reflects the overlapping histories embedded in the site — industrial labor, social ritual, daily life, and the surrounding landscape. Circular, square, and linear forms reference the basins, channels, and production systems of the winery, while the repeated amphora shapes echo the vessels once used in processing and transport. The island silhouette anchors the work in the present-day geography of the Datça peninsula. A palette inspired by pigments found in antiquity creates a dialogue between ancient and contemporary ways of seeing.
