Statement
My process driven paintings explore shape, color, and movement. Compositions are constructed through layering additively through quick, intuitive decision-making. I work in series and each series begins as a broad concept such as gardens, architecture, and microbiology. These concepts guide the direction and form each painting takes, while offering motifs to investigate. Each painting evokes a sense of play. My background in dance and interest in the non-verbal communication of music, inspire these non-representational abstractions. Meaning is constructed through the process of making; paintings become surprising visual metaphors.
