The river beneath the river

I created this piece in 2017. It is a technique on paper or wood called: sgraffito. “A layer of solid colour can be built up, to create a waxy sufferer scratched into with a sharp tool, to create lively patterns and textures. Further interest is added by applying one colour over another and then scratching back through the top layer to reveal the colour beneath.”—Artist’s Manual, A Complete Guide to Painting and Drawing Materials and Techniques, c.1996, ISBN 0-8118-1377-0

PS: Except this piece does not have the waxy layer
