A few years back, I had the opportunity to travel to New Zealand for a week of painting and sightseeing. This painting is of a historic old Chinese Settlement where many Chinese settlers came and set up a village during the gold rush of the 1860s. It is now a landmark place to visit, and one can wander into these buildings and go back in time. I loved the intimacy of the building and how the browns of the roof set it apart from the rock wall behind it. As I was painting on a very overcast day, the cool greens of the plants created a stunning contrast to the building itself.
The painting can be purchased framed or unframed. The framed version features a contemporary flat black frame with an inner gold lip. It is wired on the back and ready for hanging.
