Created from Among Friends by Samuel McChord Crothers, published 1910. Inscription: “Hoping that Sister Mary will enjoy this book as much as her sister. Halie R Hodales (?)”. When paging through this book, I noticed several uncut pages - two pages having the fold on the outside so that the inner pages are trapped without being able to be read. I couldn’t stop thinking that Halie had not actually read the book or she would have trimmed those pages so she could read the book in its entirety. I decided to create three layers of confessional screens with the scale getting smaller as the depth increased, just as the white lie becomes more vast the longer it is told. There are 59 French knots which represent the number of beads in a rosary. Why is the familiar a squirrel you may ask? Why not!
