My painting "Identical to None" was made for the Beautiful Bizarre "Serendipity" group show at Haven Gallery. When you hear the word "serendipity", you would usually think of a random, lucky happenstance, of valuable discoveries. In this case, it is the finding a kindred spirit, a friend, who reflects your thoughts and feelings, who you can be your true self with, and celebrate your personal idiosyncrasies and differences. This painting is, to an extent, also about the individuals' capacity to find and understand their own authentic selves, to choose their own fate, to accept their (and everyone else's) uniqueness. Sometimes finding that can be just as incredibly rare as a two-headed bird coming into existence and thriving. I would leave it to the viewer to find these motifs and parallels in the painting, and interpret it with their own experiences.
