Emmanuelle Fonsny was born in Belgium but moved to Sydney, Australia, at age 13. Growing up, she loved spending time on her own creating tiny objects out of clay for her doll house or drawing cats and faces in graphite. Although she has worked in music and languages, art has always been present in her life.
In her 30s, Emmanuelle started exploring other mediums by attending various classes and workshops. She also started learning figure drawing to loosen up her style.
She tried acrylic and oil but what truly resonated with her was pastels after seeing a pastel exhibition at the Musée d’Orsay in Paris in 2023! Since then, she has been learning everything she can about this medium. She still has a lot to learn, but she enjoys every minute.
Emmanuelle is particularly drawn to animals, people and figures. She enjoys the challenge of portraying the emotions and energy of the subjects she draws.
