This series draws on the ancient Celtic Ogham alphabet, in which each letter is a tree. Each painting carries the spirit of its tree into contemporary form through abstraction, collage, and North American roots.
Fearn — the Alder — began with a drawing of alder leaves and flowers. Cool pinks and blue-greens lean against the dark ground, a palette distinct within the series. Vesicas and favorite symbolic forms layer through the composition, where memory and meaning converge.
