Collection: Metal Leaf: Poikilia
This body of work inspired by the greek term Poikilia aptly displays variations in surface, color, and complex assemblages to evoke an experience of mystery and sensuousness . Although Poikilia is closely associated with Byzantine design and references the middle age's iconography animated by divine light. The term is also a protean idea lending itself to the diverse qualities of synthetic Yupo paper and polymer paints and mediums. By blending the resonance of time past with present, each piece visualizes beauty and mystery by interconnecting disparate textures of traditional metal leafing with more contemporary media. I seek to make paintings that transcend time and invite you into deeper reflection as ponder these surfaces.
