While growing up, creativity and art-making was always encouraged. However, making a living as an artist was not, so Elizabeth pursued a career in the publishing world. There were opportunities to illustrate for the magazines that employed her, and she enjoyed occasional paint-outs and drawing classes. But it wasn't until Autumn of 2014 that she found the time and energy to focus consistently on art-making. With a small set of pastels, Elizabeth sampled a Plein Aire painting class at the Denver Botanic Gardens, and was encouraged to explore further.
She has practiced figure study at the Art Students League of Denver, a plein air course with Doug Dawson, and attended workshops by Jeannette Stutzman, Desmond O'Hagan, Lorenzo Chavez and Alain Picard. She's a current member of the studio group, Art on Monaco, led by mentor, Evelyn Valdez Martinez, herself a student of Richard Schmid and the Art Students League.

Statement
"Painting with pastels enlivens me. It’s a pleasure to apply color directly by hand and make marks in a tactile, intimate way. As I begin each new picture, I’m excited to observe the process as it unfolds. Movement, described with boldness in color and form conveys my love of the Rocky Mountain West."
