MessageEdita Sarukhanyan is a self-taught artist, who was born in 1984 in Tbilisi, Georgia. She obtained her B.Sc (2005) and M.Sc (2009) in Biophysics from Tbilisi State University (Georgia) and PhD in Chemistry (2013) from joint PhD program between the University of Salerno (Italy) and Jacobs University Bremen (Germany). She worked for 6 years as a researcher in the filed of computer-aided drug design at the University of Würzburg and since 2022 she is a full-time artist.
Passion towards art she discovered in her early childhood, while making attempts to sketch animals. However, the preferences in themes were changing as she was growing up: First she used to re-draw illustrations from fairy-tale books, then, she created a fashion design collection, later her focus switched to sketching portraits and angels. In September 2014 Edita tried to paint with acrylics for the first time and since then it became her favorite painting medium.
Statement
I express the voice of my heart through paint. In most cases, music and observed beauty chiefly inspire my art. Colorful mandalas, decorative trees and themes associated with angels serve as the three main themes in my current work, each quite special to me.
Mandalas evoke my early childhood, reminding me of a kaleidoscope with its unique ornaments. As a child, I whiled away hours peering into these magical cylinders.
Trees symbolize the Earth’s connection with the Sky. Through the colors and objects in my tree paintings, I use color and objects to demonstrate how Wonder, Maturity, Life, Love and Wisdom might appear.
Since my early childhood, I have also been drawn to angels – the divine messengers. Through my work, I express their guiding and helping role in the life of a human.
Besides mandalas, trees and themes associated with angles I do love painting some floral compositions or still life art.
It is important that the art I create inspires questions for discussion and holds the attention of viewers, transporting them to a new world of fantasy and vivid dreams. What is even more critical than this is that my art transcends mere aesthetic pleasure, creating emotion and planting the seeds of kindness in the hearts of each observer.
