“Battle Plans” - An 100 x 72.5 x 2.5 cm abstract acrylic in shades of red, yellow-orange and blue on canvas and which is number 62 of a theme influenced by the 17th century militarily defensive fortifications around more than 300 French towns, cities and seaports planned by Général Vauban. His works, both on paper and those still impressively visible today in many locations, are a strong influence in my more recent artworks, and in this piece I have created an abstract impression, almost a maze, of angular structures, randomly situated. The composition was created by randomly stretching several dozen cotton threads across the canvas, then organizing my painted angular shapes along many of the thread’s axes where they crossed.
