The recognizable Orion constellation is host to many bright, colorful, and complex nebulae. Orion's "belt" is made up three stars, the leftmost of which is named Alnitak. The star itself is straddled by two constellations, with the Horsehead nebula emanating from 3 o'clock while the Flame Nebula burns brightly at 6 o'clock. For this image, I took 6 hours of exposure and removed the stars to focus on the nebula. I extracted the luminance from the nebula n and use that as the basis of the image I printed on wood. I chose wood because I felt the grayscale would translate well, and it did. Currently this is the only wood print I've created.
