SHIBATA Noriko
Shibata Noriko's creative concept is "leaf gap streamer" (こもれび), which means the sunlight that comes through the leaves. She uses the materials that appear when the "leaf streamer" occurs, such as stone and wood, and selects suitable materials that according to the concept of the work.
"Sparrow" and "Willow" are a combination of auspicious images such as "Sparrow and Bamboo" and "Swallow and Willow". The spiral curve expresses the lightness and speed of the flying sparrows and swallows. The connection method refers to the traditional japanese architectural crafts. The "mortise" method combines the parts without using any nails, glue or viscose, trying to keep the work in the most natural state.
