"The Emerald Sea" is a piece that came from my love of the coast and the emotions it stirs in me. I was drawn to paint this scene because of how the ocean can be both fierce and calming at the same time. The deep blue sky with those soft white clouds just felt like the perfect backdrop for the rich green ocean. I wanted to capture the energy of the waves crashing onto the shore, but also the quiet strength of the sea oat bush standing firm in the wind. The seagulls flying high above add that sense of freedom I always feel by the sea. This painting is my way of sharing that connection with the ocean, where you can feel both at peace and completely alive.
