This piece sat on my easel for a few weeks before it finally told me it was finished. Inspired by the view just outside my studio window, it captures a quiet, everyday moment that feels anything but ordinary.
A bright American goldfinch perches along a weathered backyard fence, drawn to the feeder nearby—something very familiar in my own yard. While the feeder in the painting isn’t an exact replica, it’s inspired by the one I have with a camera that lets me watch these little visitors up close. That’s where this whole moment began… seeing them come and go, sharing space, completely at ease.
I added touches of flowers that haven’t quite bloomed yet in real life—my way of blending what is with what’s coming. It brings a sense of anticipation and life just beneath the surface.
Painted with layered color and expressive texture, this piece reflects my love for capturing movement, light, and those small, meaningful moments in nature that often go unnoticed. It’s a glimpse of peace, right outside the studio door.
