BIOGRAPHY

With a degree in art education, I have long been obsessed with drawing and photography. I have spent much of my artistic time drawing, photographing, and creating digital images. Career paths have included, public school & college art teaching, marina operation & ownership, commercial printing, graphic design & retail copy shop management. Since retirement, I am concentrating on images that bring joy in both graphic and fine art sensibilities.

I am currently interested in creating empathetic renderings in pastel. The beauty of farm architecture both useful and derelict, holds my attention. As time goes on, I look to explore genre subjects from everyday scenes in nature and the urban landscapes of our country.

My decorative designs are intentionally mimicking a screen-printed look. These include depictions of architecture, nautical scenes, nature, and animal motifs.

I will be crossing the country via RV to experience the beauty of Canada & the United States

ABOUT THE ART

FINE ART ORIGINALS & LIMITED EDITION PRINTS - this is my current work. You will find digital and natural media creations. I like the iPad natural media programs for recreating pencil, watercolor, and color theory based images. In my traditional media, my preferences are charcoal, pastel and watercolor on a variety of surfaces.

DECORATIVE ITEMS and WALL ART - Images are linked to trusted vendors of wall art, apparel, and gift items. The images are taken from my years of photography and design to create posters and other items for home and office. ChartnArt images utilize national navigation charts combined with archival images, my personal photos & designs of my own creation.

My fine art is based on travels and personal photographs that have been collected through a lifetime of recording places, nature, working waterfront, and sailing. Utilizing pastel, watercolor and water based oil paint, I channel early compositional realists/impressionists in a contemporary fashion. The limited edition prints are an affordable extension of original works printed and signed by me in the studio. Some photographs are fine as is, and are also offered as limited edition prints.
