Safe Haven View from Juniper Lane Limited Edition of 30
Safe Haven from Juniper Lane is a view of the entrance to Perkins Cove and, in the distance, the Marginal Way, as seen from Juniper Hill. Notable structures include the Adams House, Charles Woodbury Studio, John Lane's residence, and the A-frame house and studio. The house and studio on the right belonged to artist Leon Durand Bonnet (1868–1936). The structure was razed in 2023.
Don created several line proofs while editioning the reduction woodcut. A line proof captures the state of the block's surface, lines, and shapes as the image develops through the layering of colors. Typically, the line proofs are printed in a dark color, if not black.
Previous reduction woodcuts of a similar view and design are no longer available—‘View of Perkins Cove from Juniper Lane’ edition 13 and 'Winter Twilight, Entrance to Perkins Cove.' edition 14.
