'An Icon at the End of the Road' is a visual document of the passing of the age of small private manufactories. The Tarr and Wonson paint factory, built in the late 1800s, produced marine paints for ships' hulls. The manufactory still stands on a causeway overlooking Gloucester Harbor. It is home to Ocean Alliance, a research institute dedicated to studying whales worldwide.
