The wonderful Impressionist artists inspire me over and over. Georges Seurat was interested in conveying an impression or the mood of a scene. As he discovered, his technique of Pointillism was ideal for capturing scenes with a sense of slowness or stillness. In this quilt I tried to get the same effects by using and sewing together thousands of small fabric squares, working with light and dark values, I thought that I should add my version of appliqué images. I double appliquéd the ladies to try and add another dimension to the overall design. It was a labor of love and the wall quilt has received many ribbons over the years.
