Imaginary continents hand painted colours and machine stitched with specialty yarns. Felted flowers decorate the land masses.
I had painted a lovely turquoise color on a large piece of fabric, not really knowing what to do with it. It turned out to be a large continent with additional pieces of purple fabrics sewn into the larger piece. Lots of beadwork seemed to be needed and also lots of quilting lines perhaps reminiscent of geographical lines on a map. It took many months to assemble and finish.
