When I started painting my own fabrics, I had no idea what I might be creating. I have used acrylics before to paint landscapes on regular canvas but never on plain muslin, for example. It was fun experimenting with colors, combining them and creating unusual tones. Sometimes I just painted the whole surface the same, sometimes I would create lines and angles. Not only are the colors here unusual but also the design was different. What could I do with this one, I asked myself? Well, I could emphasize the heavy strokes and the corners of the design. So, I added texture using white and beige heavy mattings used to make rag rugs in Scandinavia. Very old materials used in an abstract composition.
