I found a sketch that I decided to work with. Using mostly batiks except in two areas, namely the green corner pieces and the yellow middle image, which is a hand-painted cotton in a lovely soft yellow. The batik pieces are all from a jelly roll of fabrics in more muted and dark tones. To create texture I crocheted ribbons which I sewed down by machine. The gold ribbons were enhanced with a decorative machine stitch. I fused the different pieces to a cotton backing.
