Confession: I'm low maintenance. Give me a good book, space to think, work on my art, quality coffee, then I’ll be very happy.

Statement
I am a self-taught artist with a focus on the human figure.
Art has always been a part of my life and remains the reason I rise at 5am, most weekdays, to make room for what I enjoy and wish to share with the world.
My Work
Most ideas for any art project come to me in a variety of ways, from reading, exploring the work of others and through conversation.
Throughout my art journey, the male form has been my focus. I never tire of its complexity or the challenges it presents to all artists.
The hands often feature in my art because of their ability to convey emotion without words. Though they are notoriously difficult to interpret, I like the challenge hands present. I may not like the outcome during the initial sketch, but continue perfecting them until I am satisfied with their depiction.
One aspect during the planning process is deciding the location of the hands in relation to the body. Their placement on the figure can be to convey connection, playfulness or sensuality, though each viewer will have their own interpretation.
Inspiration
Inspiration from other artists is essential to my development, particularly the work of those whose work inspires me to grow and expand my outlook.
I admire the work of Micheal Leonard. I discovered his work through the Henry Miller Fine Art gallery website, where the male form is the focus. Leonard’s tonal drawings of the male figure have had a significant influence on plans I have for future work. For me, the breadth and depth of his works is my benchmark of skill.
I am thankful to have an art studio in my home, as it gives me the space to create, plan, and think.
