A horseback riding accident ripped up my dominant arm and I lost my ability to draw. By going to performances of opera, ballet, and music, I could sit in the audience, in the dark house, and draw rapidly. Unable to see the drawing process, due to the darkness, I could draw without judgment. Over two years, I learned to draw again.
