I purchased a late 1930s home in Crown Heights. The yard was bare except for two trees. My son, who is disabled, asked me to plant a garden so that he could enjoy sitting outside in nature. He was used to the garden surrounding our mountain home, a garden I'd worked on for 25 years.
I am fascinated by the ways that our perception of time and space shifts, sometimes seeing forward in linear time, an intuition, a dream, sometimes seeing backwards through a memory. Or a vision, an idea that is seen and thus becomes an experience.
Sometimes, I use disparate elements, things from here and something from over there, brought together into relationship, and in their dynamic conversation, there is a story implied and meaning created. This artwork is a combination of images from our home garden and the lotus pond at Botanica.
Wood frame with mat and museum glass.
