Collection: Misplaced Rain
Misplaced Rain continues the examination of previous work, Water Gold Soil, which charted aqueducts and dams in relation to soil. Furthering on this research, Misplaced Rain addresses human desire to control water in the name of infinite growth. Scacco utilized a marbling technique with ink and water to render an imagined topography in five works on paper. Her landscapes of interconnected water systems were then covered in wax and dusted with dirt from the California aqueducts and California clay. Seven new ceramic works hover between animal and topography, with clay from five California earth bodies physically intertwined and fired. These works unite individual geographies into a singular form and refer to the fact that all living systems are connected through water and soil.
