White herons stand at the edge of a pond where I walk...heads bent, gazing at the water. In the early morning light they look like they have assumed an attitude of prayer. I often join them in thanking the Lord for the beautiful morning with the sun just starting to burn off the mist on the pond. I think about our prayers floating up and what they might look like.
The delicate shapes overlaying the paintings surface reflect my fascination with the work of Masaru Emoto, including his book "The Hidden Messages in Water." Dr. Emoto's work demonstrated that positive thoughts and words could lead to beautiful, symmetrical crystals, while negative thoughts and words resulted in jarring, unappealing, irregular structures. Using high-speed photography, Dr. Masaru Emoto captured how crystals formed in frozen water rearrange when specific, concentrated thoughts are directed toward them. He found that water from clear springs and water that has been exposed to loving words shows brilliant, complex, and colorful snowflake patterns. In contrast, polluted water, or water exposed to negative thoughts, forms incomplete, asymmetrical patterns .
"Morning Prayer "attempts to illustrate the healing power of words and thoughts of love and gratitude.
