Death is always unwelcome, but we were ready by discussing it, feeling it before it happened, and living each moment of the time together that we knew would end in the best and most relaxed as possible. I know he knew what it would be like for me and was so gentle. My Dad was a kind soul with great intellect, humor, and imagination... as well as humble. I will always be waiting to see him with love in my heart.
This painting began as a myth on top of the Fibonacci geometric space. The owl's face is a drawing I did when my dad's funeral was finished, and I had to return home quickly to work a private overnight nursing job. The patient did not hear me from the other room, so I muffled my tears and kept my mind still by drawing. The girl is a doll, free from strict anatomy, as believable as the reality that she was my mother's toy. For more than 15 years did, my Dad live without my Mom in the company and care of his children. He was sad when I once showed him the doll and yet asked to see it again on a different day and smiled. Now that the doll is immortalized or celebrated by me, at least I can pass it on to the grandchildren... that does leave me an orphan though.
